Monterey Peninsula Pride Celebration and Parade

The mission of the Monterey Peninsula Pride Celebration & Parade is to educate Monterey County, commemorate our heritage, celebrate our culture and liberate our people. The parade starts @ 11:00 from Monterey County Social Services at 1281 Broadway Avenue in Seaside, CA. The celebration starts @ 12:00 at Oldemeyer Center at 981 Hilby Avenue, in Seaside, CA. La mission de la "Monterey Peninsula Pride Celebration & Parade" es educar al condado de Monterey, conmemorar nuestro patrimonio, celebrar nuestra cultura y liberar a nuestra gente. El desfile comenzara a las 11:00 am en el edificio de "Monterey County Social Services" localizado en 1281 Broadway Avenue en Seaside, CA. La celebracion comenzara a las 12:00 del dia en el "Oldemeyer Center" localizado en 981 Hilby Avenue, en Seaside, CA.

Celebration
The celebration starts @ 12:00 at Oldemeyer Center at 981 Hilby Avenue, in Seaside, CA. This is a free event for the community, though donations are appreciated. During the speaking portion of the event, ASL Interpretation will be provided by Chelsea's Busy Hands, including Chelsea Hull and Sara Quist.
On event day, make sure to upload your photos to Facebook and share them with Monterey Peninsula Pride parade here. Also make sure to register to see official event photos generously provided by Batin Photography. Once the photos are live, you'll be sent a notification email.
After the event at Oldemeyer Center, join a panel of Monterey Peninsula Pride organizers as they discuss the program and development of local LGBTQ communities. The panel will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Wave Street Studios (774 Wave Street, Monterey, CA). Later on in the evening, head on down to Bull and Bear (479 Alvarado Street, Monterey, CA) for the official Monterey Peninsula Pride After Party, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. See you there!

Ayumi Winehouse
Salinas, California’s Ayumi Winehouse has nearly 20 years of gay rights activism in Monterey County under her glittery belt, in the late 90s and early 2000s as an advocate for queer and questioning youth and in community health outreach, and these days as an event organizer for Salinas Valley Pride Celebrations. Now the Monterey County area’s premier drag DJ, Ayumi hosts Social at the Tavern at Salinas Sports Tavern in Salinas and is the resident DJ for WooWoo’s CIRQ-US at Renegades Bar in San Jose. Paul Richmond
Paul Richmond is an internationally recognized visual artist and activist whose career has included exhibitions in galleries throughout the United States as well as publication in numerous art journals and anthologies. His work is collected by individuals around the globe. Influenced by his own struggles and experiences, he seeks to challenge social constructs that exist around sexuality and gender through his work. In his role as the Associate Art Director for Dreamspinner Press and their young adult imprint, Harmony Ink Press, he has created over four hundred novel cover illustrations for LGBT publications. He recently released an adult coloring book of male pinups, Cheesecake Boys, that has gained a large international following. Paul is a co-founder of the You Will Rise Project, an organization that empowers those who have experienced bullying to speak out creatively through the language, visual, and performing arts. He is a member of Open Ground Studios in Seaside, where he teaches drawing and painting classes and is preparing for an exhibition of his War Paint series in September. Sarah Larsen
Sarah Larsen is an artist from Salinas, California who studied art at Monterey Peninsula College. She has a collection of comic heroine inspired pieces as well as other emotionally inspired pieces.
"I am inspired by the comic heroines because of their strength and raw power that I know every woman has inside," says Sarah. "I wanted to showcase the women in the comic books because there is more to a comic than their male leads!"

Christina "Sea" Sevilla
Christina is a fine artist who works in multiple mediums, predominantly sculpture, watercolor and photography. She has a double bachelor's degree in Art Education and Art Studio with an emphasis in sculpture and photography from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. She currently works at the Monterey Sculpture Center as a patineur.
When she's not making artwork, she can be found playing the acoustic guitar, swimming in the ocean, or chasing around her dog, Chip, on the beautiful beaches of Monterey, California.
