LGBTQ Collaborative
The Monterey County LGBTQ Collaborative works to raise awareness about the challenges impacting LGBT people and their families, and engages our local health and school systems, legal services and law enforcement, and the broader community, to improve support for LGBT people. Organizations involved in the Collaborative and partnering on related projects include California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc., the Monterey County Health Department, Community Human Services, Epicenter’s Our Gente Program for LGBTQIA+ youth, Urban Arts Collaborative – Nature is Art, Art is Healing, Conexiones of Monterey County, and the Psychology Department at Cal State Monterey Bay (CSUMB), among others. The group meets the third Thursday of the month from 3:15-4:30 at the Salinas office of CRLA.
Rainbow Speakers and Friends
Rainbow Speakers and Friends offers a monthly meeting of support and friendship. There is a also a dedicated group of volunteers that visit classrooms and workplaces to share their stories and provide a Q+A panel for audience members to engage in discussions about LGBTQ+ issues.
